MWK (mawk) is a thought experiment gone badly wrong. But we will definitely disprove the theory that a million monkeys with keyboards could eventually produce the works of Shakespeare. It may take a little longer without the million-minus-one monkeys. that's all. oh, and any volunteers?

help.

i have a theory.

I have a theory. It's simple enough to articulate - "Nobody in your life should be more important to you, than you are to them." It's designed to save you from hurt, build only as many walls as necessary, trust only as much as offered. Easy said, harder done. More on this thought later.

Merrrrrrrry frickin' Christmas and a harpy new year.

Christmas and New Year are supposed to be have the highest suicides, I am told. Not really surprising. All the forced cheer puts in sharp contrast the reality that surrounds us. The stupid cheery Santa, characters from tales we don't understand, images from lands we have never seen, people we will never know. Yeah, all that happiness can get you down I bet. It does me.

Merrrrrrrry frickin' Christmas and a harpy new year.

(p.s. i figure i had better blog in short burts. if i wait for my attentian span to improve and write something coherent, it'll be a long wait.)

I love mornings like this.. they are hard to find. Waking up when its still night, out. Lights pepper the skyline, and stars still dot the clear sky. The velvet black seems to deepen as nature wakes to bird calls, and I can see a hint of crimson breaking out of the east. And it just seems to last for hours, as the sun explores colors and hues before deciding on the day to follow. Mornings unspoilt by human presence.. no people milling about, no footsteps, no doors closing or lifts moving just the sound of the wind making its way through the leaves. Its so beautiful, I yearn for someone to share it with, a companion wholl need no words to share the moment. But thatll have to wait. For now, I like to think that a morning like this presages a perfect day.. but the voice in my head thinks maybe the best part of my day may just be ending. :>

Whoever you are, wherever you are, I hope you see many, many morning like this. Have a good one!

jd n' akbar

Thursday, March 27, 2008
i recently went in to see jodha akbar. (which is bollywoods latest shot at an epic, for the uninitiated.) while i went in with no expectations, it turned out to be surprisingly good. you get the feeling that you're watching history in the making. mostly because it takes so long. akbar's reign over india lasted nearly 50 years, the movie runs slightly longer. even the actors get frustrated. akbar orders the execution of his step brother by throwing him off the palace balcony. the ham playing his brother messes this up by not dying. sitting in the audience you feel every bit of akbar's pain at the time everything takes. (mainly in your bladder.)the production values are uniformly excellent, with great sets and costumes. but the problem with such a long movie is that it gives you time to think completely messing up the suspension of disbelief.for instance, the costumes and jewllery - though beautiful, jodha and akbar seem to live in them. the only part where akbar seemed to have less than about 3,000 carats on him was when he was playing tag with an elephant. now, the one thought screaming in my head as they took a shot at wedded bliss (about four hours into the movie) - doing with all that kit on? there will be blood!
all in all, i don't regret going - mainly because i had excellent company to laugh with.
but then, i came back with one big peeve - where the f*** is birbal?!
